Sivakasi 2005

Sivakasi  is a Tamil film directed by Perarasu. The movie stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay, Asin Thottumkal, Prakash Raj, Ganja Karuppu, Chitti Babu, Lakshana, Geeta, Vaiyapuri, and Sai. Perarasu and Nayantara perform in an item number. The film's music is composed by director, Srikanth Deva.

It was remade into Telugu as Vijayadasami starring Kalyan Ram, Vedika.

The Story
A local don named Pallaku Pandi (Booby) is arrested by the Chennai police. Thus, the mafia group of Pallaku Pandi creates havoc in T Nagar, Chennai. They close the shutter of a shop named Sivakasi welding works. Later on, Sivakasi (Vijay), the welder, welds his own shop by breaking down the shutter and comes out. Then, he beats up the Pallaku pandi gang. After getting released from the jail , Pallaku Pandu comes and finds the person who bashed his gang members. A fight takes place between Pallaku Pandi & co versus Sivakasi, and the latter wins the battle. Then, Pallaku Pandi gets admitted in hospital.


Hema (Asin Thottumkal) comes for shopping in T. Nagar along with her father. A pervert misbehaves with her, and Sivakasi rescues Hema. He later advises the latter to dress in a decent manner, so that people won't misbehave with her. Then, she realizes her dressing sense and stops wearing such revealing costumes in public places. After sometime, she goes and teases Sivakasi stating a fake point that she has a sister and they are twins. Sivakasi thinks that he advised Hema's sister Homa (an imaginary character in the film). After few interesting humorous and emotional incidents, Hema and Sivakasi falls in love with each other.

Hema's father comes to know about this and thus he doesn't allow her daughter to get out of her house. Then, after one confrontation scene between Sivakasi and him, he understands the former and lets her daughter to marry him. Later on, Hema's brothers meet Sivakasi and ask him to come and stay with Hema and co after the marriage, considering the fact that Sivakasi is living in a very ordinary house. This provokes Sivakasi to beat up Hema's brothers as Sivakasi thinks this as an indirect form of dowry and humiliation. Later on, Hema meets Sivakasi and scolds him stating that he doesn't have any sentimental feeling as he is an orphan. An angry Sivakasi slaps Hema and tells her the flashback where he lived with his family. He also reveals that his original name is Muthappa and not Sivakasi. Hema states that she will marry him if and only if he comes back with his family. She also states that she won't marry anyone apart from Sivakasi if he doesn't bring his family back to Chennai.

Thus, Sivakasi goes to village to bring back his family. He finds his elder brother, Udayappa (Prakash Raj) betraying his mother (Geetha) and sister (Lakshana). He finds his mother being treated as a servant and his sister living in a very poor hurt along with her husband and her daughter. Sivakasi also comes to know about the fact that his father died in a heart attack because of his brother's misbehaviour with a girl, and use of filthy language against his father in front of a crowd of people.

All these things take Sivakasi into a new mission. He decides to make his mother and sister rich once again by clinching the movable and immovable properties from Udayappa, which were actually seized by the latter from his family. Sivakasi also comes to know that Udayappa is a local MLA of his village Nattarasan Kotai, and he is handled by his mother-in-law Mulli Mungali. Sivakasi decides to make her sister Vairam contest against Udayappa in the next local MLA election.

In the first step of Sivakasi's mission, he steals RS 10 Lakh from Udayappa and successfully persuades his sister to stand in the election. Sivakasi uses the fame of MGR and Rajnikanth to grab the public towards his sister, making Udayappa bring Nayantara, the famous Tamil actress, as an ambassador for his party. After knowing this, Sivakasi diplomatically plans a strategy to make the public believe that Nayanthara has changed her support towards his sister's party. Later on, Hema comes to Nattarasan Kotai to find her lover Sivakasi. Then, after few serious incidences with Udayappa, she leaves, but stays near Nattarasan Kotai. Sivakasi comes to know about this when he is on an election campaign for his sister's party. Finally, Vairam wins the election and becomes the MLA of Nattarasan Kotai. Sivakasi too manages to almost fulfill his mission by seizing back his movable and immovable properties from Udayappa. Then,in the climax,a fight ignites between Mulli Mungalai's henchman group and Udayappa. Sivakasi rescues Udayappa in that fight and this makes Udayappa to join hands with his brother Sivakasi and become a good person. Finally, the entire family, including Udayappa's mother in law Mulli Mungalai, join hands and decides to live peacefully. At the end, Sivakasi marries his lover Hema.

The film grossed $4 million at the box office. It was a superhit according to sify.com.
